This link will take you to PBS special Vaccine Wars. I like to have students watch this film and respond through an assigned essay whether they believe vaccination should be mandatory in the United States, with supporting information. |
The Vaccine_Preventable assignment below is a formative assessment given to students online to practice active learning. Students will learn to use search engines and find articles on current vaccine preventable diseases. I have provided a power point presentation with audio instruction to assist students in the assignment instructions.

Emerging_Disease and Spotlight on Disease are examples of Summative assessment examples. I will generally assign one of these to a class as a final project. These activities will fulfill learning outcomes described above in order to fulfill course objectives and assess overall student learning achievement. In addition to a final project such as the two listed, final exams are also given in order to assess student learning outcomes.
